Prior to the Second Anglo Boer War, Imperial Germany supplied the two Boer Republics with tens of thousands of modern Mauser rifles. The most common of these was the Mauser Model 93/95 chambered for the 7x57mm cartridge.

Maybe if we lived in a totally equal utopia, Jim, this would change, but most writers think that no life challenges would result in childlikeness and reduced intelligence. On the whole, I’d rather live with the guns than be The Eloi (The Time Machine by H. G. Wells).
