Roberta Writes – Reblog: In Touch With Nature – Southern yellow billed hornbill

This month, I have featured the Southern yellow billed hornbill as my In Touch With Nature featured creature. Such a lovely and interesting bird. Thanks to Kaye Lynne Booth for hosting.

I am having trouble with reblogs. The button doesn’t bring up a link to the post like it used to. Now, that button just creates a blank page on my blog and I have to manually copy and paste the link. It is a nuisance as I can’t reblog nearly as quickly or easily. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

  1. I have been experiencing the same issue lately. I hope they fix it soon. It just takes extra time and makes me wonder why there is a reblog button.

  2. Hi, Robbie, it sounds like either A you need to update WP or B they’re doing away with the reblog.

I have to create my own reblog posts. I’ve been doing it that way for years because of my hosting platform.

It’s time consuming. It’s why some people hire me to do work.

  3. Hi, again.

Another work around I have done for this is to enable the post via email. For example on posts where people have the email a link to a friend sharing option enabled I select that option and then, using an email address WP generated when I set up that free feature I simply write my intro copy my text and link, and email it all.

If on the smart device just use the sharing option and it does the rest when you select the email or wp tab.

If you have the wp app on your phone or other smart device it’s a snap.

This is a lot of what people have me doing for them because it is so time consuming no one wants to do it. LOL.

  4. I have used the re-blog option a couple times, though I stopped because I couldn’t edit them later if need be (and it shows up blank in WordPress, though it didn’t for the site itself back then). That’s why if the WordPress sharing button is available, I go for that.

  5. I tried to reblog a post a few weeks ago and had the same result. I didn’t bother asking WP about it because their standard solution is “Clear your cache.” So I cleared the cache, but the reblog still didn’t work.

  6. So, no, not that problem…YET!

I have other issues with WP.

Most issues go away. Of course they can return. LOL

Okay, heading over to read the article! 🤗

  7. What a delightful bird.

Actually, I was having the opposite problem with the last two times I tried to reblog. I wanted to add an obvious link to the other blog (because I’ve found that a lot of people don’t understand what to do with the reblogged tidbit on the screen) and no matter what I did, rather than the link, it returned the snippet… WordPress is more than ever full of strange and frustrating things.

Wishing you a good weekend. Hugs.

  8. Hi Robbie, I’m heading over to read this post, but I wanted to comment on your problem reblogging posts. Although I haven’t had that problem, lately I’ve had to sign in multiple times to leave comments on other people’s blog posts. Something wacky is going on!
