Dan’s Thursday Doors challenge closes today. With these two final entries, I have written twelves poems for twelve different contributions. Today’s photographs were contributed by, in order, Miriam Hurdle and Teagan Riordain Geneviene.
Thank you to Dan and all the photograph contributors for making this such a wonderful challenge.
You can join in here: https://nofacilities.com/thursday-doors-writing-challenge-2025/

It floats (shadorma)
happiness
floats just beyond reach
beckoning
enticing
our lack of understanding
leads to wrong choices

Beguiling (shadorma)
life presents
opportunities
lockless doors
just waiting
without signs or directions
for our decisions
Thank you to those of you who wrote for my photograph contributions. I am delighted my pictures inspired you. You can read these entries here:

Very nice doors and beautiful poems. our lack of understanding – leads to wrong choices. How true that is. Our lack of understanding does a lot of harm with or without good intentions.

What an insightful duo you have for us today. If life did come with instructions- I am wont to ask, who do you think would actually read them?
LikeLike
Very few people would read instructions. There is a lot of guidence out their to help us do life, but few of us take advantage of it 🩷

It seems that wrong choices are just part of life, would that it were otherwise.

Some choices result in repercussions that quickly demonstrate there wrongness. Others are much more subtle and we don’t recognise a mistake for years.

“Lockless doors” is a great concept, especially in your context of decisions and choices. I think you’ve touched on the reason doors intrigue us.

Hi Maureen, doors open into different places, rooms and situations. That makes them fascinating.

You’ve been busy, Robbie. Doors are such a great metaphor for choices/decisions and I don’t know if we ever know with certainty where they will lead. Beautiful, thought-provoking poems, my friend.
LikeLike
Thank you, Diana. Metaphorical doors take us on many adventures. Life’s flow is uncertain, so we don’t know if the places they lead will be for the good or for the bad, but we still need to walk our path.

These poems are beautiful, Robbie. Thanks for using my door. I thought I had commented, but that must have been one of the several times the cats got determined to walk on the keyboard… 🙀😽 Hugs.

Hi Teagan, I’m delighted you like the poems. My cat tries to get onto my desk but I am a little firm about it. She has her own chair and cushion. Of course, my chair and cushion are much more desirable.
