Hi Dave, the Spoonbill really is so interesting. I spent ages watching it on both mornings we were at Madikwe in August. So perfectly adapted to its environment.

Hi Tim, I am delighted to share information about southern African wildlife. This poem just came to me and so I went with it. I find these spoonbills fascinating to watch. I sat in the hide for over an hour just watching this one.

Robbie, a beautiful post and I love your rensaku tanka poem. This is the first time I have come across this format and yours is wonderful. Your poems is engaging the reader, incredibly descriptive and so informative as you follow the life of a Spoonbill. The photos are lovely and help to give a full immersive experience of viewing these unique (to me!) birds!

HI Annika, thank you for this wonderful comment. I am so pleased you like this poetry form. I have written four to date as I really like this style. Spoonbills are fascinating and very interesting to watch. They sway as they move like exotic dancers.

Thank you, Esther. The Spoonbill is one of my favourite wild birds. I also like yellow-beaked storks. They are often found together in the marshlands.
