De Jackson, aka WhimsyGizmo’s, d’Verse Quadrille prompt is Let there be light. Light is one of my favourite subjects to paint and photograph.
The prompt is as follows: Write a poem of exactly 44 words (not counting the title), including some form of the word light.
You can join in here: https://dversepoets.com/2024/10/14/quadrille-210-let-there-be-light/

Disruption
Shafts of early morning light
Paint broad strokes across water
In shimmering, shining gold

Grey heron in search of breakfast
Creates lines of bright ripples
Disrupting mirror-like surface

Peaceful scene interrupted
By arrival of buffalo
who grunt and snort aggressively
while jostling for position

Beautiful, nature has a way of bringing joy.

A business persons mantra is “location ,location, location”.
A photographers mantra is “light, light, light”!
Many times I tell someone “just because you can take a picture, doesn’t mean you should”.
You are recognizing when to take shots Robbie. I am always searching for the gold……golden light (sunset).
You are training your eye to see what is there and what isn’t there.

Hi Wayne, thank you. I love light. I think drawing and painting is helping me look for the light in nature. I loved these shots. I have lots of the buffalo but this one worked for this poem.

Until the arrival of the buffalo it could have been a scene from our local little pond… It can be amazing to go there in the morning….

Hi Bjorn, we also have a local pond that isn’t a watering spot for buffalo – smile. I just loved this photograph series and it led the words.

This is marvelous, Robbie. It amazes me how people can write to such precise structures for poetry.
Poetry, math, reading music — my brain just isn’t wired for it. So I’ll look forward to yours instead. 😀 Hugs.

HI Teagan, well, I couldn’t write fantasy like you do. I don’t think like that at all. It’s a great thing that we are all different.
