Thank you to Professor Charles French for sharing my post about the merits of Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu. Carmilla is an important gothic horror novella as it is the original vampire story and also suggestive of Lesbian love despite its conservative Victorian setting and readership.
I studied LeFanu in college – definitely an original!

Hi Resa, it’s not a very long story but quite fascinating.

Very interesting, Robbie. I didn’t know of this book.
Have you read about the recent graves found in Poland where the dead were padlocked so they couldn’t rise? One was a child. I believe they’re from the 17th century.

Hi Merril, somehow, this book missed out on the fam Bram Stoker’s Dracula received. I didn’t know about recent finds but I know there have been such discoveries.

Thank you for yet another wonderful entry, Robbie. Like you, I feel passionate about the ULS. I must ask Charles if he has a list of books that are part of the society.
