A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, a great adventure took place …
Well, not that long ago and not another galaxy, but in 1995 I went to South Korea, and for me, it was a great adventure.
These are a few pictures, in black and white, from that trip. of course some of them include doors.

The above pictures were taken on the streets. The first picture is of a street vendor. The second picture is of a roadside shop (both pictures have doors if you look carefully). The last picture is of a stall selling pigs heads.
This final picture, is of me outside a ski resort wearing a ski suit.

Korea, how lucky that you got to go there. I tutored Korean children in English. They were such wonderful students. I just loved them. A place I have always wanted to visit.

Hi Darlene, it was a great experience. At the time there was a huge American army base in Seoul which made it even more exotic.

How exciting that you visited South Korea, Robbie! A great remembrance post! And there’s something very nostalgic about black-and-white photos.

Hi Dave, I love B&W photos and have always thought they look very sophisticated. Nostalgic too, as they look dated.

I visited South Korea a few years ago. I liked a lot about it. I was surprised how committed many were to reuniting with North Korea.

Hi Jacqui, it wasn’t like that when I was there. My parents didn’t want me to go because of the tensions between N and S. my son did a project on the pros and cons of Korea re-uniting but there are some quite big obstacles, mainly economic.

Absolutely some obstacles. I was there just a few years ago.

Thank you for sharing! I do believe I would enjoy visiting South Korea, especially after the appetite-whetting here.

Haha, Annette, I was vegetarian back then and was a little horrified by the pigs heads and the live fish in the shops.

I think I would enjoy traveling to South Korea. Thank you for sharing some photos from your trip, Robbie. I like inspecting photos for doors. If you’re sharing this at Cee’s place, I think your street vendors even have a couple drawers. The building at the top is magnificent. I think I could stand and stare at that for hours.

I didn’t put Cee’s link in. I will do so tomorrow. I had enough trouble getting your link in from my phone 😂

These pictures remind me a little of the time that I lived in Japan.

I was lucky to have this unexpected trip, Priscilla. It was the first time I ever travelled alone and I was terrified but determined.

Hi Rebecca, it was still cameras with film in those days and I didn’t take many pictures not have the money to develop them. I have these and a handful of others. I still remember a lot about that trip though.

Thank you, Liz, it was. The jet lag was bad though.

How exciting a trip and it would have been such a different culture. Love all the photos. Black and white makes them more powerful

Hi Bella, I also like B & W for some pictures. Certainly the culture of S Korea was very different to my strict English upbringing.

I was for me at the time. I’d never flown internationally before and I went to S Korea via China.

Hi Carol, I must admit it was the first and last time I saw a stall of pigs heads and it gave me a turn.

I’d love to visit South Korea and experience part of the culture. I’d love to go with my wife someday. The architecture is so unique. Do you still ski? Short hair is cute on you.

Thanks for the compliment, Pete. I have never skied again. I didn’t really like it much. South Korea was interesting and I doubt I’ll ever go there again.

What a wonderful opportunity, Robbie. That must have been a fun trip and a great opportunity to explore another culture. I love the architecture. The pig heads, well, not so much. 🙂 Great “door” share.
