Today, I am visiting Rebecca Budd from Tea, Toast & Trivia with a travel discussion about the amazing Cango Caves in South Africa and the surrounding area.
You can listen to the podcast here: https://teatoasttrivia.com/2022/02/07/season-4-episode-7-travelling-to-cango-caves-south-africa-with-roberta-eaton-cheadle/
Thank you, Rebecca, for inviting me over for this enjoyable conversation.
I thought I’d also use this opportunity to share a few more of my pictures from this incredible system of caves and a YT video I took during our tour.

About Rebecca Budd

In the words of Rebecca Budd:
“When I first came to WordPress, I went absolutely crazy with blogs. It was my way of exploring different aspects of my life. Clanmother is my backward look at the past and the stories that reflect many of the realities that we experience in our modern age. LadyBudd is a photo blog where I document my moments and thoughts that come when I travel with my camera. ChasingART is about the never-ending exploration of our creative spirit. OnTheRoadBookClub speaks about my love of books. TakingtheKitchen is my return to my kitchen. And my latest blog, Tea Toast & Trivia, is joining the podcast conversations. Your visits and comments are always appreciated so feel free to explore by following the individual links.
For me, blogging is about finding kindred spirits. And there are many out there. As Anne of Green Gables once said:
“Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It’s splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.”“

Not sure my claustrophobia would allow me to enjoy caves, which is why it’s wonderful to see them virtually- thank you!

I am with you on that, Jacqui. I felt claustrophobic just listening to Robbie describe the “adventure” tour.

HI Jacquie, the shorter tour that we took is not bad as the caverns are very spacious. The adventure tour would not be for anyone who is claustrophobic, it is very narrow and tight. I wouldn’t take Michael on that one because of his asthma.

I am really intrigued by caves. They are a perfect place for human to hole up if we can tolerate spiders and crawly things. I’m off to listen to the podcast.

Hi Jacqui, I am not mad about bats in the dark, but they don’t usually fly around during the day and we never saw any during our tour.

Thank you again, Robbie for your generous invitation to travel virtually to South Africa. Your detailed account of the Caves, the archeological projects, the terrain and feeding the ostriches generated a feeling that I was actually there!! I especially appreciated your comments on the warmth of the people and the diversity of languages. Your live in a remarkable country. Thank you so much, Robbie!

Goregous cave shots and video! I want to explore more caves if getting down into them isn’t too steep.

Hi Denise, all the caves I’ve visited have stairs going down into them and that includes one in the UK and one in New Zealand. They aren’t necessarily steep but there are a lot of them.

Stunning photos, Robbie, and remarkable video. I also enjoyed the podcast with Rebecca. The only caverns I’ve visited were the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. 🙂 Thanks for a fascinating post.

I enjoyed the podcast very much. A wonderful way to travel now that we are limited. I also love the Anne of Green Gables quote from Rebecca. She is correct in saying that blogging connects us to kindred spirits. I´m so glad I found you.

The caves are remarkable. I have to say that I could not see myself entering one without some major panic ensuing within myself. See how much I appreciate you!!

Hi Annette, caves are not for everyone. My younger son is not a big fan. He agreed to come on this visit because the caverns are big and spacious and he is okay with that.
