I’m doing Thursday Doors on a Thursday which is a sign that my work life is a little more balanced this week. I saw my doctor this afternoon so that my blood pressure and heart rate could be checked. They were both normal. He wasn’t impressed when I told him I’d worked the past 8 weekends. In fact, he said I needed to get a life. He is right.
Welcome to Thursday Doors, a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Feel free to join in on the fun by creating your own Thursday Doors post each week and then sharing your link in the comments below, anytime between 12:01 am Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time).
Warwick Castle is a medieval castled that was originally a wooden fort built by William the Conqueror during 1068 and was rebuilt as a stone castle during the 12th century.
Warwick Castle is situated in the town of Warwick on a sandstone bluff at a bond of the River Avon. I visited it with my family in 2018 on our way to Stratford upon Avon (birthplace of William Shakespeare).

Wait–You’re early… I wasn’t ready for this! Let me get myself organized… OK… Good doors. Thank you. This reminds me a bit of Hearst Castle over here in California

I know, Jacqui, I was on time this week for the first time this year. Things are a bit more under control and I shouldn’t need to work this weekend. So I will be able to WRITE!

Is tax day April 15th for you-all? Every CPA-sort I know is being buried deeper by the day. Another thing I love about being a writer.

Our tax year end is 28 February but I don’t do tax, I do corporate actions and listings on the stock exchange as well as capital raisings and debt issuances. A busy time due to the pandemic.

Thank you, John. Warwick is a great castle to visit and close to Shakespeare’s birth place so two birds with one stone for us when we did this trip. My mom and I are very close.

What an amazing place to see, Roberta. It feels as if history is settled on those rocks, like dust or snow.
You were so lucky to visit.
I like your Mommy’s hairdo 🙂

Yes, that is true, Patricia. I love castles and historical buildings. My mom grew her hair longer after she lost it all during her chemo. She doesn’t dye it anymore.

This took me back to last year when I visited Warwick Castle – just before the pandemic arrived! Lovely photos.

It’s lovely that you manage to visit Warwick, Esther. This was during our 2018 trip to the UK.

I love castles! I’m so glad you shared these photos for Thursday Doors, Robbie. We don’t see many castles in this country, and when we do, they are modern recreations. This one appears to be in pretty good shape for being almost 1,000 years old. It looks like they work pretty hard at keeping it in good condition. It’s always good to see you, but a pleasant surprise to see you on a Thursday. I hope the work settles down and you get some time off.

Hi Dan, I have to work today which is a bit upsetting because I was expecting a reprieve. Never mind, we have a local holiday to Ghost Mountain planned for April and a trip to the Pilanesberg National Park in May. Lots to look forward too. Only one castle in South Africa and that is in Cape Town. I don’t have any decent pictures, sadly, but hope to get back to Cape Town later this year. I am aiming for Thursday’s Dan, sometimes there is just no time and I don’t like to rush posts.

We only have one castle around here, and it’s a modern reproduction. Still, I’d like to visit. It’s been close since last spring. I hope it opens this year for visitors. Good luck getting a few days off.

I worked all day today. We visited an more modern castle called Wray Castle in Windermere. It is an imitation castle and was never a real working castle. It was a bit disappointing but it had a good story. I’ll share it on Thursday some time. Next week it’s Stratford upon Avon.

I’m so glad you are doing better, Robbie. Your doctor gave you some good advice:) Nice photos, I love seeing castles.

He did, but now I have to work today. It’s not easy to take the advice when you are in the middle of a worldwide economic melt down. I’m glad you like the pictures. Such a great trip.

Warwick Castle is my favorite of all those I’ve been privileged to visit. I haven’t been there in 20 years, so I appreciate seeing these photos; they stir my memories.

I am so happy that you are finding balance – it is a daily challenge, isn’t it? Warwick Castle – yet again, serendipity has said that we have passed each other in the corridors of this magnificent castle that holds so many stories!!!

It is hard to find balance now, Rebecca. There is such a skills shortage in my country and it is impacting heavily on those of us that haven’t left. Onwards and upwards though, everything passes eventually. This is a great castle and I loved touring it. Next week we arrive at Stratford upon Avon!

It is a great castle to visit. Not my favourite, but a good one. My personal favourite is Dover Castle but I like the WW2 aspects of that one.

Hi Liz, I am glad too. I’ve hardly written a word for 2 months now. It makes me grumpy and sorry for myself when I can’t write. I couldn’t remember exactly what that building was but I think a look out station.

I’m the same with getting grumpy and sorry for myself when I don’t have the time to write. My husband has been known to send me to my study to write. (The grown-up version of my mother’s sending me to my room when I was “acky.”)

He knows you well. My husband doesn’t understand why anyone would want to write when they can rather spend more time earning real money.

My mom is the best person I’ve ever known (no hyperbole). It’s touching that you feel that way about your mom. Not only do they mold us into the people we are, but I’d also like to think we inherited some of our moms’ best qualities.

Hi Robbie – glad you’re finding a little extra time this week. It’s important, although in a few minutes (it’s 8 am here) I’m going to have to get off WordPress so I can make dinner before I go off to work (don’t get home until after 6 pm). Warwick Castle looks beautiful and would be a great place to visit. I enjoyed your door pictures – always like the ones with the mirrors!

I like pictures with mirrors and also windows, Barbara. You do work a long day. It doesn’t leave much time for anything else does it. Warwick castle is a great place to visit.
