This is Reena’s prompt for this week:
It’s time to get on with another prompt, in a world that is fast changing form and voice.
Here are a few phrases you can use in your piece
melody in a shriekbeauty of chaos
wisdom of insanity
sadness in profanity
lightness of intensity
Let the muse take you wherever it goes,

I chose to write a free verse poem about the Lightness of Intensity.
Wrap it up
Words circulate
Round and round
Deja vous
Old problems
Unvaried commentary
No solutions
Any sharp mind
Clear in its ideas
Quick in the uptake
Becomes soaked
With the soggy,
Sodden heaviness
Of pointless repetition
The answers so obvious
Except to those
Wandering the maze
Of taught learnings
Stifled thought patterns
One way sign posts
Frustration
Becomes boredom
Dissolves into irritation
Catch it
This intensity of emotion
Bundle it up
It great swathes of sunshine
See the pointlessness
And let it go
Bring lightness
To the overwhelming intensity
Of that which you cannot
Change or influence
Wise advice wrapped up in the beauty of poetry.:-)

So true. I think if people would take a step away from social media now and then they would approach it with more kindness and patience. We’re bombarded with news and opinions from every angle, no wonder we snap.

Hi Jacquie, that is very true. Thank you for adding your thoughts.

Thank you, Tim. I read your poem about the reality monster after I wrote this. Same thought process I think. If you’ve adjusted now, you are one up on me. I battle this apathy every day.

So true. There’s so much misinformation around. It’s good to bring lightness.

You’re poem describes my professional career, pretty much. I’m very glad I was able to bail.

Yours was the same as mine then. It wasn’t like this when I started working.

In my field, it was like this from the beginning, just not as bad as it is now.

We do spend much of our time just going around in the same old circles…(K)

My work colleagues certainly do. I’ve had to implement this strategy to stop myself going insane – haha!

I remember that from my office days. I hated all the wasted time.

Your words here are so sharp, precise and true.
I don’t know how you do it, Robbie.
But you do it brilliantly~

HI Reena, this is something I feel strongly about. I don’t understand how corporate leaderships work – they waste so much time.

I call myself a victim of corporate power play 😦 Have experienced the madness first-hand.

This poem dives so deep, Robbie. There comes that moment when we realize there are things we cannot change and have to let go.

HI Jan, that is exactly right. I think we also realise as we get older, that careers and work are just one part of our lives, and a less important part at that.

A powerful poem, Robbie. I love the lines:
“This intensity of emotion / Bundle it up / In great swathes of sunshine”
I wish the world could see that path and follow it through this time of chaos, but I imagine we must start with ourselves. Have a day bundled in sunshine.

Hi Diana, thank you, I’m glad you like that. It is how I see and react to life. I am a huge optimist and believe good will ultimately prevail. It gets me through harder things and times in life.

That’s wonderful. I waver, I’ll admit, between optimism and pessimism. It’s best if I don’t watch too much news.

We can only do so much when it comes to our elections. In some states you have to declare a party and vote for that party. The only exception is Presidential.
One thing that also bothers me besides the backstabbing, double talk and broken promises is the political ads (inclusive of radio, TV, handouts…) all the waste for signage that never seems to go away quick enough…

Hi Jules, everything has turned into a consumerism jamboree from Christmas, too Easter, too elections. I don’t like it and I think people are easily swayed and bought.

We don’t do much for holidays. Gather with family, but not decorations. I don’t even buy cards for Valentines… Natures decorations are enough. 🙂

I do like to put up decorations and I make Christmas cakes. We do a lot of baking for charity too. I love Christmas time.

With an interfaith family – we let others decorate. I only put up a few. 🙂
